The perfect balance between business and IT
Jeroen (34) has been working for nine years now and every time he encounters the same thing: he has trouble with boredom in his work. He won't and can't sit still and always wants to have something to do. And then no sweeter work to kill time, but serious business with real responsibilities. With his job as a business consultant at GeONE, there is no more boredom and he carries a lot of responsibilities for his own projects. As a consultant, Jeroen is involved in the entire process, from the initial request of the client to the final implementation of the system, complete with guidance and aftercare. Clients vary widely: from large and small governments to start-ups and large companies that have lived up to their name.
Business consultant, what kind of job is that?
"At GeONE, we help our customers optimise their information management. In many cases, we use an intelligent document management system, M-Files. I am responsible for the entire process, from initial request to follow-up. Customers come to us with a variety of challenges, from making documents and information available everywhere to very complex quality management issues. "M-Files is an intelligent information management system that allows organisations to quickly find their documents, provide insight and automate processes. M-Files is so incredibly flexible that I can answer 'yes' to practically any customer wish. In the past, products other than often custom-made products were used, which is hardly the case with M-Files, as the system is so user-friendly and extensive. Because M-Files can do so much, the nature of my projects also varies continuously. That makes my work diverse and dynamic."What's it like to work at GeONE?
"When I first came to work here, I immediately noticed the atmosphere, everyone welcomed me with open arms and was ready to help me on my way quickly. A nice and diverse group of professional idiots, all of whom are very warm, involved and accessible. Moreover, everything is well organised. I have been able to choose my own phone, an excellent laptop that I can work on and I enjoy driving my lease car to my clients."How does a project go?
"In a strategic session we map out the information and document processes together with the client and see where profits can be made. Using our 'Build & Play' method, I set up the system together with the client. We set up the process step by step and together with the client, so that we can gradually grow towards a higher level of efficiency and a new way of working. The final solution therefore fits like a glove!"What makes your job so fun?
"It's incredibly varied. On the one hand, I'm in the technology of setting up the system and, on the other hand, I assist the client. When I see how I help clients with their digitisation and the successes that that brings, it gives a huge kick. This is very different from other agencies where I have worked. I can really put my own spin on my projects and enjoy the responsibility, independence and variety enormously."Is that different from other agencies?
"One hundred percent, because I get a lot, a lot of freedom. In addition to that freedom, you often see that your work is limited to either the technology or the consultancy work. At GeONE, this is well divided: one moment I'm on my way to a session at a client's and the next I can work on the technical solution. What we ask
Completed HBO or WO education
Preferably a technical direction (computer science, technical business administration, etc.).
Knowledge and experience with database techniques such as Oracle and SQL server
Experience with project management methods Prince 2, SCRUM or PMP is an advantage
Strong in communication
